Florida is one of the most popular states in USA with both tourists and American citizens.
As the fourth most populous state in the country - behind only California, New York and Texas - the "sunshine state" attracts a throng of domestic and international visitors looking to enjoy the warm climate.
Although Florida is a relatively small state - by area - it has one of the most inviting climates and with more coastline than a most of the other states it has a lot to offer to a variety of holiday makers.
As well as the beaches and the surf, Florida has a host of attractions the most famous of all being the Walt Disney World Resort - also called the Magic Kingdom - just outside Orlando.
Opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom has developed significantly over the years. Now the most visited, as well as the largest, recreational resort in the world, Walt Disney World Resort is made up of four theme parks and two water parks, with 23 themed hotels and a multitude of shopping, eating and recreational venues.
The four theme parks are each represented by an iconic structure and many visitors make a beeline straight to that attraction. The Magic Kingdom has Cinderella Castle, a castle inspired by many French palaces that has a replica in the Tokyo Disney Resort; Epcot has Spaceship Earth, an 18-storey sphere that from the outside looks like a giant golf ball; Disney's Hollywood Studios has the Sorcerer's Hat, an icon that replaced the Earful Tower as the focal point and is now used as a neet and greet area for Disney characters; and Disney's Animal Kingdom has the Tree of Life, a 14-storey artificial tree based on the tree that was home to the Lion King's Rafiki, which has 325 animals carved on the outside.
These resorts are aimed at a family holiday market with a high focus on children's enjoyment. There are, however, also parts of the Magic Kingdom that allow parents to get away from screaming kids and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.
The property houses five golf courses - four 18-hole and one nine-hole course - as well as two themed mini golf courses. Catch-and-release fishing excursions are also offered on a daily basis.
The Walt Disney World Resort has 32 hotels, 23 of which are owned by Disney. International visitors who have arrived on Florida flights to Orlando International Airport who are booked into a Disney hotel can pre-book a seat on Disney's Magical Express that will take guests and, later, their luggage directly to their hotel.
